This seminar provides all health care professionals, front line staff who work in the health care industry, family members, or students with fundamental information on dementia and dementia care. The participant will foster sensitivity and respect for the people with dementia, thus helping to enhance the quality of life of people with dementia. This is the required seminar for those pursuing CDP (Certified Dementia Practitioner) certification and who qualify through the National council of Certified Dementia Practitioners.

 

Instructor: Erin Kim, MSW, LCSW, CDP, CADDCT is the Director of Health Services for CHIRON TOTAL. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master of Social Work degree from University of Southern California. She is a Certified Dementia Practitioner and a Certified Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia Care Trainer through the National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners. Erin has a variety of experience as a mental health therapist at the county mental health department, clinical medical social worker at hospital & hospice care, and volunteer caregiver support group facilitator & community presenter at Alzheimer’s Orange County. She has been actively participating in education by providing in-services at work, appearing as a panelist at community colleges, guest speaking on radio programs, and presenting at various forums and seminars. Her topics are related to Dementia & Alzheimer’s, Aging & Death, Advance Planning, Grief & Loss, Caregiving, Effective Communication, Relationship, Child/Elder Abuse, Stress Management, and Self-Care.
