Somang Society, led by Chairman Boon Ja Yoo, had a successful second Health Concert with an attendance about 50 people. The Health Concert was held in Somang Hall, which is located in the city of Cypress, on March 13 at 10 AM.
This concert was sponsored by Somang and medical marking research organization Chiron Total.
Sung bum Pyun, who is known as the director of the rehabilitation medicine department at Korea University Anam Hospital in Seoul, Korea. He talked about stroke, cerebral blood vessels, and dementia.
Professor Sung Bum Pyun said, “Brain function naturally decays age, and the resulting brain diseases are divided into cerebrovascular diseases and degenerative brain disease. For cerebrovascular diseases, the blood vessels in the brain become blocked results in paralysis or a stroke.”
He also said, “Degenerative brain diseases include Alzheimer’s disease, vascular dementia, dementia with Louciocesia, Parkinson’s diseases, etc. These diseases cannot be completely cured, but it is possible to prevent them to a certain extent.”
Professor Pyun said that factors such as hypertension, smoking, diabetes, heart disease, Postmenopausal hormone therapy, diet/nutrition, and physical activity directly affect the brain.
To prevent brain diseases, professor Pyun recommends regular exercise, a daily intake of fruits and vegetables, a low sodium diet, no consumption of alcohol, and not smoking.
